While the highly contested Senate race between Senator Ted Cruz and former Congressman Beto O’Rourke in 2018 ended with Republicans continuing to hold both U.S. Senate seats, the race was won within a margin of 2.6%. The closeness of the 2018 election, changing demographics and increased voter registration in Texas have gained the state national attention again. This time, the Texas Senate race is between incumbent Republican Senator John Cornyn and former US Air Force Major MJ Hegar.
