Bayou Theater brings musical joy and holiday cheer to UHCL Dec. 16

The Bayou Theater’s 2021-2022 season continues with its next and last show of the year, Ryan and Ryan: An Evening of Great Joy and Good Cheer Dec. 16 at 7:30 pm. Admission is free for students while tickets are available at $25 for general admission and $20 for faculty, staff, veterans, and seniors.

The Bayou Theater offers a variety of programs to entertain the UHCL and local communities. There are six remaining events in the 2021-2022 season. The first show of next year, Shemekia Copeland, a blues vocalist, continues the 2021-2022 season Jan. 28, 2022.

Director of Theater and Cultural Arts Eric Despard continues to promote the theater, which is accepting volunteers for events and offering paid internships to students.

“The theater can act as a conduit in which communities can come together,” said Despard. “ I’m looking for a wide range of different kinds of artists and really bringing diversity and equity… and give everyone a chance to enjoy something”

The Sustainable Stories Film Fest and Gallery Exhibition is taking place in partnership with the UHCL Art Gallery and Bayou Theater with film screenings taking place Nov. 17. For more information about upcoming events, shows, and ticket sales, visit the Bayou Theater Website.
