COMMUNITY UPDATES: Richard Walker welcomes back UHCL community

The following was sent as a message from UHCL president Richard Walker.

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff: I am delighted to welcome all our students, faculty and staff to a new semester at University of Houston-Clear Lake. It is an exciting time to be on campus, and I’m pleased to see so many enthusiastic faces. This is a time of optimism, a time to make new friends and reconnect with old ones. I hope you are as energized and eager to take on this new semester as I am.

As we enter our second week of the semester, we are already off to a strong start. Our Weeks of Welcome events have been well attended and will continue through the end of this week. I encourage you to attend and help us celebrate the beginning of our semester. Additionally, I am glad to note that we are back to a full slate of events and activities on campus. Follow our University Calendar and GetInvolved to stay current on upcoming events and connect with campus organizations. These events and activities are great opportunities to meet fellow Hawks and find your place at UHCL.As a university community, we have much to look forward to this coming semester. One initiative I’d like to highlight is the launch of our Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), which is a component of our institutional SACSCOC reaffirmation process. Our QEP, “Becoming Aware: Cultural Interactions at UHCL,” recognizes our responsibility to ensure that students have the necessary marketable skills to be successful in an ever-changing world. Through the QEP, we will develop a campus environment that supports students in gaining the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to engage in cultural interactions that enable them to succeed in our global community. You’ll be hearing more about the QEP in the coming months. In closing, I wish everyone a successful and rewarding Fall semester. Together we will build a vibrant and prosperous campus community. Go Hawks!

Richard Walker, Ed.D.President
