15th Annual UHCL Student Leadership Conference

The UHCL Student Leadership Conference is embarking on its 15th year and encouraging attendees to “Step Up and Be The One.” The conference is taking place this Saturday, Nov. 5 with a day filled with engaging speakers and exciting leadership workshops. There will also be an on-site community service project for attendees to partake in.

UHCL students are strongly encouraged to attend, as the fee for the conference will be waived with a UHCL ID card. Students from other colleges from around the state will also be in attendance to mingle and network with UHCL students as well as with others students from around Texas.

This year’s keynote speaker will be nationally renowned speaker and author Jonathan Sprinkles. Sprinkles’ new book “Be The One” was the inspiration behind this year’s conference theme. Everybody who comes to the conference will receive a copy of Sprinkles’ new book. The workshops are centered around personal and professional development offered by guest speakers.

“We’re really excited this year,” said Jennifer Clark, Assistant Director of Student Life, Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement. “We have several alumni who are presenting and we also have professional speakers, so we’ve got some really high quality speakers.”

Breakfast and lunch as well as an assortment of snacks will be served during the conference. On-site registration will be available the day of the conference. It is greatly appreciated and strongly encouraged for those who want to attend to pre-register before Saturday’s conference.

“It’s an intense day, but people leave feeling like they can take on the world and that’s our goal to empower people to know that they can make a difference,” Clark said.
