Cultural Extravaganza

The following is a press release from the Office of Intercultural & International Student Services (IISS).

We are once again approaching that time in the spring semester when the most thrilling event at UHCL takes place– Cultural Extravaganza! This year, the event will take place on Saturday, March 23th, 2013. It is an event where members of the UHCL community unite to celebrate the different cultural backgrounds found at our university. Performances highlighted in the past include dancing, acting, singing, reciting poetry, and other forms of cultural representation. The event also provides guests with the opportunity to taste cuisines from different corners of the world.
This is a student driven event that can only be successful with the help and support of committed students like you! There are several ways you can get involved:

1.       Register to Perform:  If you would like to showcase a talent or express your culture or country, you can register online atwww.uhcl.edu/iiss/culturalextravaganza<http://www.uhcl.edu/iiss/culturalextravaganza> OR you may pick-up a registration form at the Office of Intercultural & International Student Services (IISS) located in SSCB 1.203. Deadline to register is Friday, March 1nd at 12 noon. Please review the attached “Rules & Regulations.” REMINDER: You can have a solo or group performance!!

2.       Register for the Culture Walk:  The Culture Walk takes place the evening of Cultural Extravaganza. If you would rather not perform, but still would like to represent your country—this is your opportunity!! If you would like to register for the Culture Walk or would like more information, please contact the IISS Office (SSCB 1.203).

3.       Join a Committee and Volunteer:  Committee meetings will be held every Friday beginning Friday, February 8th at 11 AM in the IISS Office (SSCB 1.203). If you are interested in volunteering or joining a committee (marketing, performance recruiting, food, event staffing), please attend the meetings to find out how to get involved!! If you cannot attend the Friday meetings, but would still like to volunteer, please contact the IISS Office.

We are open Monday through Thursday from 8:00AM to 7:00PM and on Friday from 8:00AM to 12:00 noon.
