No Refusal Weekend in effect

No Refusal Weekend will be in effect for Labor Day weekend starting Sept. 1 through Sept. 5.

During No Refusal Weekend law enforcement officials, who suspect a person of being intoxicated, can obtain a digital search warrant from an on-call judge. If the operator of the motor vehicle refuses to take a breathalyzer test, the officer can take them to a hospital and get a blood sample.

Along with No Refusal Weekend, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and law enforcement officials will be setting up random checkpoints to ensure public safety. Texas State Troopers will also increase patrols during the Labor Day weekend.
