Learn a new language with foreign language program

UHCL is offering a non-credit foreign language program to those seeking to appear more marketable in their profession or have interest in learning another language. This program consist of classes that have a maximum of five students, making the learning experience more personal.

Registration will open on Sept. 18 and close when classes begin on Oct. 10. Students can select to learn Spanish, Mandarin, Italian, German, Japanese, Russian and more. In addition, private tutoring is available.

English courses for professionals are also available, including classes that focus on conversational skills. The instructors all possess native fluency, advanced degrees in the language, and experience in teaching with the oral method. In the first class meeting, students will instantly learn their desired language and begin practicing oral drills with other students. The tools learned from these classes will be essential for everyday conversations. In addition, students will leave the classroom confident in speaking their desired language.

Students have the option of paying $145 for a group course, or registering for private 10 hours sessions for $600. In addition, students will need to purchase their course’s books and audio materials. Textbooks are available for purchase in the bookstore. Registration for a foreign language class may be done online, but students can pay for courses with a Mastercard, Visa or Discover card. Students can also send payment by mail, or pay in person in our office. However, students must pay all fees before the course begins. Fees are non-refundable except to students who withdraw before the first class meeting with a $30 deduction, or receive a credit towards another session.
