The 2nd Annual Celebration Seabrook festival occurred Nov. 5 and 6 in Seabrook, TX. The festival included live music, gourmet food trucks, craft beer and wine, local vendors and activities for children. All proceeds benefited the City of Seabrook’s Share Your Christmas Program and the new animal shelter and adoption center.

I’ve lived in Seabrook for most of my life and I used to go to the Seabrook Music Festival. I was really sad when it went away and when I saw this was going on in the area, I was excited to go to the event Saturday. I invited my sister and my 2-year-old niece to come with me because it looked like something the whole family could enjoy.

This festival truly represented the Seabrook crowd and community, as everyone from Lakewood Yacht Club to the City of Seabrook was present to show their support and help out during the event. The event took place on Main Street in Seabrook and was one of the well-planned events I have ever been to. The parking was free, and there was a shuttle that took you to the event. Once you are in the festival, all activities are free, with the exception of food and drinks of course.

The live music was fantastic. I was able to listen to The Powell Brothers play. I wish there would have been more of a crowd to hear the music, but everyone was so busy with the festivities. There were live cooking demos, secondary music stages, vendors and a magician. Lakewood Yacht Club even had an area set up where kids could grab a fishing pole, sit by the water and fish. It didn’t matter if you didn’t know how, they would help you. It was my niece’s first time fishing and she had a blast for the two minutes that she held on to the fishing pole.

The Kids Ahoy Zone included a pirate show, Buccaneers Bounce House, build your own pirate hat, face painting for kids. The face painting booth was extremely popular, with the line full of people of all ages. The Cockrell Butterfly Center from the Houston Museum of Natural Science brought insects and bugs for a special exhibit to let attendees hold, pet the bugs and learn more about them. There was also bumper boats and water walking balls. Those were quite entertaining for everyone involved.

One of my favorite parts was the gourmet food trucks. There were some local favorites such as D’lish Curbside, a UHCL favorite, and some that don’t normally get to make it to the Seabrook area such as Maine Lobster. I got some banh mi tacos from Nom Mi Street that were delicious.

There was beer and wine for the adults, and there were games and activities for the kids – the event was fun for the whole family. Though many people don’t think about it as one, but Seabrook is a small town. Everyone knows everyone and it’s nice when the community can pull together and show support for one another for a good cause.
