SGA meeting – Feb. 21, 2017

The meeting started with fund requests from student organizations:
• Indian Student Association (ISA) requested funds for the event Holi, which will take place March 12 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will take place at the Delta football ground. It is a free entry event and the first 200 participants will receive a free t-shirt.
• Beta Alpha PSI is going to their annual conference meeting in Dallas Feb. 24-25.
• Texas State Teachers Association will attend their annual state convention March 3-5.
• Health Care Student Association (HSA) has their international conference in Chicago, March 22-24.
• A vote was taken and the fund requests from ISA, Beta Alpha PSI and HSA were approved.

Delta Xi Nu won the parking spot raffle.

Food Service Committee also had an announcement.
• There is a new cash system in the café and the cashiers are currently going through training.
• There will be new items added to the menu such as salads, flatbread for pizza and Delicious Destinations will bring new food each day from different regions of the world.
• Phase 1 B of the changes in the café includes a new look for the patio.
• Phase 2 will bring in a new deli.
• Students can email foodservicefeedback@uhcl.edu if they would like to provide feedback on any of the upcoming changes.

A vote was taken for the new senate structure. The change will take place with the vote of 40 out of 50 of the organizations and associations.

Student organizations then made their announcements.
• Behavioral Neuroscience Student Organization (BNSO) will hold a wellness program that will provide participants with nutrition and fitness tips. The meetings will take place for six weeks every Thursday starting March 2. The meetings will take place in the Student Services Building 2310 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
• PSI CHI and Psychology Club are holding a fundraiser in collaboration with Together We Rise. They are asking for $25, which will provide duffel bags with everyday necessities for kids in foster care to store their belongings. All proceeds will go towards the Boys and Girls Harbor in La Porte, Texas.
• HSA will have a waffle bash Feb. 22 in Atrium I from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meal combos will be $5 and waffles will be $2.
• Legal Studies Association is bringing Judge Kerry Neves to campus Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. in the Bayou Building, the room above the bookstore.
• CAB is hosting Kahoot Trivia Feb. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m.
• Office of Student Diversity, Equity and Inclusion reminded everyone about their event, Cultural Extravaganza. The deadline for performers to sign up for the event is Feb. 24.
• The movie “Not My Life” will be shown Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Student Services Lecture Hall. The movie is free for students and also non-students.
• The deadline for the Chili Cook-Off is March 1 at noon.
• SLICE will have a leadership workshop Feb. 22 in the Student Services Building Room 2307 from 5-7 p.m.
• Career Services will hold career week starting Feb. 7. On-the-spot resume reviews will take place Feb. 27, 1-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. in the Bayou Building Atrium I. Resume reviews by employers will be held Feb. 28, 1-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. in the Bayou Building Forest Room. Practice interviews with employers will be held March 1, 1-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. in the Student Services Building Room 3.109.
