UHCL promotes 16 faculty members

HOUSTON, August 21, 2018 — Effective Sept. 1, University of Houston-Clear Lake will promote 16 faculty members, 10 of whom were elevated from assistant professors to associate professors with tenure, while six ascended from associate professors to full professors.

Four members of the College of Business were promoted: Associate Professor of Management Dina Abdelzaher and Associate Professor of Healthcare Administration Jordan Mitchell. Both Gokhan Gercek and Mohammad Rob, professors of management information systems, were promoted to full professor.

From the College of Education: Michelle Peters, professor of research and applied statistics, was promoted to full professor.

From the College of Science and Engineering: David Garrison and Dongmin Sun, professors of physics and environmental science and geology respectively, were promoted to full professors. Robert Phalen was promoted to associate professor of industrial hygiene and safety, and both Radu Vlas and Wei Wei were promoted to associate professor of computer information systems and information technology.

From the College of Human Sciences and Humanities: Christine Kovic was promoted to full professor of anthropology. Desdamona Rios and Thomas Schanding were promoted to associate professors of psychology, while Steven Bistricky was promoted to associate professor of clinical psychology. Jennifer Arney and Cengiz Sisman were promoted to associate professor of sociology and history, respectively.
