BLOG: Starting things off right

In just six months, the Star Wars saga will present the final entry in the Skywalker saga about the everlasting struggle for justice in the galaxy. “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” premieres Dec. 19, 2019, and will bring to an end the franchise Disney seemingly resurrected in 2012. It’s not every year that the storyline to a seemingly immortal saga reaches its endpoint. But this is that year, and with this approaching end, comes the beginning of something new.

Welcome my fellow readers to The Empire Writes Back.

With this being the final entry in the trilogy I consider to be the sort of ‘epilogue’ to the original three films, I have vowed to make this my most Star Warsy year possible. If Star Wars is my religion, you can think of these next few months as me preparing for the Rapture.

While this is not the first post in my blog, I feel it is only right that I give a proper introduction to what is meant to be your first step into my large Star Wars world.

With this blog, I plan to discuss all things Star Wars in preparation for what is the end of a series I have loved since my youth. As you may or may not expect (depending on how well you know me), my love of Star Wars is an intense one, and therefore I may often analyze and discuss the series on in-depth levels that may startle some, but that’s a passion for you. In these six months, I will dissect, analyze, scrutinize and discuss this beloved series of mine before Episode IX brings it all to a close, with my final entries focused on my overall thoughts on “The Rise of Skywalker.”

I have been a Star Wars fan for 11 years now. Admittedly it was something I more or less got into myself, rather than my parents raising me on it. The series has appealed to me over the years for an array of reasons. It’s an amazing story, themes, scope and imagination, as well as its philosophical and metaphysical implications, are just a few of the reasons the series has long appealed to me and through this blog, you will see me exploring all these ideas and topics. The Star Wars universe is one of the vastest and expansive universes in all of fiction, which explains its varying ways of appealing to many for different reasons, so there is so much one can write about in just six months.

I hope through this blog you can get a look at why I love the series, while also being able to share my thoughts, both good and bad about Star Wars and give insight into all aspects surrounding the films and franchise as a whole. With the series having so much that can be said about it, it will not be too uncommon for me to use Star Wars as a jumping-off point for bigger topics I wish to discuss that have some connection to Star Wars.

So overall, I am looking forward to this blog and being able to write about this beloved series as it nears its conclusion. I hope this blog proves to be of joy to you or at least something worth reading. With that said, let’s do this, and I don’t mean to be cliche, but, may the Force be with us.
