BLOG: Awaiting October for the official trailer for ‘The Rise of Skywalker’

As fall begins,“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” gets closer, I am certainly building to more and more excitement, especially with the new content we have been treated to the past few weeks in anticipation of the end of the Skywalker saga. Despite what we have been treated to, there is one more thing us fans have to look forward to in these last few months of waiting for the film, the official trailer.

Of course, there has been the teaser, the usual special magazine look and of course the recent D23 footage, which I did not expect. Now all that is left is the upcoming official trailer which will likely build upon my anticipation. But when will this trailer arrive? Well, that’s obvious, it will drop in October.

The marketing for the new Star Wars films, specifically the new trilogy in the Skywalker Saga (Episodes 7 and 8) have followed a similar pattern in terms of trailer releases. The teaser trailers for “The Force Awakens” and “The Last Jedi” were both released in April, with special previews shown in the summer, and followed by the official trailers for films being released in October.

When one looks at the pattern of trailer and footage releases from the previous Star Wars films, it is clear that the official trailer for “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” will release some time in October. Photo by The Signal reporter Ethan Duke.

“The Rise of Skywalker” has followed the same pattern so far, with its teaser being released in April and the recent D23 footage released in August. With this in mind, it is clear we are likely getting the official trailer for “The Rise of Skywalker” in October, and I, for one, cannot wait.

What we have seen so far has definitely been exciting material, so while I am trying to keep my expectations controlled, I am nevertheless confident we are going to get a trailer that I will be rewatching constantly until the film’s December release.

With that being said though, I have a feeling that no matter how great the trailer is, it will only give us a tenth of what the story will really encompass. This film means to bring the entire Star Wars saga full circle, and with rumors stirring of the appearances of various classic characters, I expect that “The Rise of Skywalker” official trailer is going to build up our anticipation, but still keep us a bit in the dark about what will truly be revealed and come to fruition in its powerful story.
