MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT: The passing of a UHCL student

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:

With great sadness, I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends for the loss of the student who passed away on Friday. Please understand, in respect for the family’s privacy, we will not be releasing the student’s name or funeral details.

But this untimely passing should not go unremarked. Life is precious. Celebrate it. Create every opportunity to express your love and support to those who love and support you.

Look beyond your own sphere of support. Reach out to those you do not know, especially those who appear in need of an empathetic ear. You have much more in common than you may realize, and you may be exactly the voice they need to hear. When we listen to and help others, we broaden our ability to resolve our own personal trials and tribulations.

And for those who today are grieving, remember, our Office of Counseling Services can provide emotional support. Please contact them at 281-283-2580.

Sincerely,
Ira K. Blake, Ph.D.
President
