Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself, on both a personal and professional/educational level?

A: I have been teaching at UHCL for several decades, as the director of the Foreign Language Program. I teach Spanish, French, German, English and Biblical Hebrew. I am also in charge of Friday Morning Continuing Education.

Q: What made you decide to be a part of the Latina/o and Latin American Studies (LLAS) program?

I was lucky enough to be part of the founding committee of LLAS back in November 2012. I have always been interested in sharing cultural perspectives and meeting folks from all different backgrounds.

Q: What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

A: There are no coincidences in life, so we need to search for the “big picture” in order to understand what is really going on around us and why people are in our “movie.”

Q: What are some activities you enjoy doing outside of work/school?

A: Salsa dancing, studying Kabbalah and book club.

Q: What are three things you can’t live without?

My family, my friends and my students.

Q: Is there anything you would like our readers to know?

A: Learning another language opens up new worlds and new friendships!
