The Signal celebrates Black History Month 2021

While we cover Black stories and issues throughout the year, The Signal staff still recognizes the importance of Black History Month.

Since 2018 we have celebrated this month by highlighting individuals like Black cosplayers, journalists, scientists, entrepreneurs, musicians and athletes through our social media and the site. This year we took a different approach to this month. Instead of celebrating these individuals, we looked more holistically at this month and chose to debunk myths, explain issues, uplift creatives and show the makeup of the Black community at UHCL.

Behind The Signal Podcast

This year’s Black History Month efforts were created by Online Editor Alyssa Shotwell, Managing Editor of Content and Operations Troylon Griffin II and  Managing Editor of Outreach Stephanie Perez.
