COMMUNITY UPDATE: A Message of Thanks from President Ira K. Blake

Dear Students, Faculty, Alumni, Staff and Friends:

As you are now aware, my time as President of University of Houston-Clear Lake has come to an end and the next chapter of my professional journey is unfolding.  I am indebted to Chancellor Khator and the University of Houston System (UHS) Board of Regents for the opportunity to lead our university.  Working with and learning from UHS leadership has been an enriching experience.  The overwhelming professional and personal satisfaction of this post, however, has been working with each one of you in service to our students, alumni, and communities.  I am proud of all that has been accomplished during my tenure and of all that will be accomplished in years and decades to come. I will be forever grateful for your hard work, care, compassion, and dedication.

My wish for UH-Clear Lake is to keep growing and developing in pursuit of being the very best representation of all that a regional comprehensive public university can be.  The stage has been set by those who came before us and our strategic plan, Impact 2025 and Beyond, which provides clear direction and accountability going forward.  Additionally, as a university, we can state with confidence that we are well on the way to being truly representative of those we serve.  It is not an overstatement to assert that our history, our present, and our future combine to provide an extraordinary opportunity to deliver a distinctive education and overall university experience.  In doing so, you will improve the lives of our students, serve business and industry, and strengthen communities.  This is noble work and you all are to be commended for your role in advancing the UH-Clear Lake mission.

I wish you every success in this important work and look forward to following the continued rise of UH-Clear Lake.  I truly hope our paths cross in the future. Until then, be healthy…be bold… and be engaged…that is the Hawk Way!
