COMMUNITY UPDATES: University police to undergo on-site assessment

The following was sent as a message from the UHCL Police Department.

The University of Houston-Clear Lake Police Department is scheduled to undergo an on-site assessment as part of a program to attain law enforcement re-accreditation June 4 – June 7, 2022.

Administered by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

Agency employees and the public are also invited to offer comments via telephone by calling 281-283-2290 on Monday June 6, 2022 between the hours of 9:00am and 11:00am. Comments will be taken by the Assessment Team.

Telephone comments must address the agency’s ability to comply with IACLEA’s standards. A copy of the standards manual is available upon request at the University of Houston-Clear Lake Police Department and can be downloaded from www.iaclea.org/standards. The UHCL PD accreditation contact is Ms. Kelley Reid, at 281-283-2231.

Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the University of Houston-Clear Lake Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation should send them to IACLEA, 1110 Bonifant Street, Suite 330, Silver Springs, MD 20910.
