YOUR VOICE: I Heart UHCL Day reveals love of community

UHCL Spirit Week took place Oct. 10 through Oct. 14.  This marked the second I Heart UHCL Day since the COVID-19 pandemic began in  2020.

The Signal asked students their thoughts on I Heart UHCL day and why they like it. Here is what your fellow students had to say.

“One of the things essential about I Heart UHCL is the community. It shows we have an active community.”

Jeffrey Fato, Environmental Science M.S.

“Community. It’s a time in which students can come together and take a break from classes and have fun.”

Brianna Pacheco, Finance

“The food, the snacks, the entertainment and community.”

Madison Crew-Liolios, Biological Sciences

“I really love to meet all the students who come here. We have hundreds of students who come here every year so it’s nice as the student President to be able to introduce myself and tell them about our org.”

Joe Contreras, Biology, SGA President

“I really like it. I feel there is a lot you can do. The Atmosphere is very welcoming and inviting.”

Bailey Webb, Healthcare Administration

“I love that there’s such a big opportunity to see what the campus is doing around here. It’s great to be able to be out here with all the organizations.”

Samuel Valle, Social Work

“I like that we have a lot of events and we get to connect with students and faculty. It makes for a better experience as a college student.”

Danna Almazan, Environmental Management

“It’s pretty entertaining. It’s great seeing the community come together and see new faces. It’s just really entertaining.”
