UHCL Poem in Your Pocket Day – Thursday, April 30

Thursday, April 30, is national Poem in Your Pocket Day.

Dr. Shreerekha Subramanian, Associate Professor of Humanities, has written an original poem “Here, at Stop Signs,” about the UHCL campus. You can pick up your copy of the poem at various locations including:

  • Neumann Library
  • Book Store
  • UHCL Art Gallery
  • HSH Advising Office
  • Patio Café
  • Student Life

 

Here are other ways you can celebrate National Poetry Month

  • Visit the Spine Book Poetry display in the Neumann Library.
  • Enter The Signal’s Haiku Contest and win a T-shirt with your poem on it. Tweet your entry to #UHaikuCL.
  • Listen to local poet Jasminne Mendez read from her book Island of Dreams, at 5 p.m. Thursday at UHCL’s Neumann Library Hawk Overlook.
  • Trade poems with Stuart Larson, Associate Professor of Graphic Design, who always is ready with a poem in his pocket.
  • Create a poem, then take a pic of your poem or video yourself reading it. Next, tweet it with the hashtag #UHCL to share.
