MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT: Our Strategic Planning Process

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:

Building on what we recently accomplished through our new mission, vision and values statements, the university is creating an integrated, five-year strategic plan. This comprehensive project included working with the Balanced Scorecard Institute, which has helped us develop a framework to implement this insightful process at UH-Clear Lake.

Beginning next week, we will have a series of interactive sessions titled Strategic Themes and Great Idea Forums where we will set priorities that allow us to work toward a common goal. These forums will be held in the Bayou Building’s Forest Room on the following dates and times:
  • Tuesday, April 23, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 25, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 30, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

During these forums, the Strategic Planning Leadership Team will identify high-level topics that the university community wants to have considered in the plan. Five topic areas will be covered, including Academic Excellence; Student Experience; Sustainable Financial Resources and Alignment; Partnership with Community; and Human Capital and Service-Based Culture.

I strongly encourage each of you to participate in creating our strategic plan. Your voice is a valuable component in shaping our institution’s future, and it is important to hear from all of you.

Sincerely,

Ira K. Blake, Ph.D.
