Symposium to feature ‘Minions’ Story Artist, Cast Member of AMC’s ‘Talking Dead’

Meet experts in the comic industry during the second installment of a biennial comics and pop culture symposium, comiCulture, Sept. 26, 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., at University of Houston-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.

Special guests include renowned skateboard artists Daniel Amora Mora and Beto Janz; story artist and animator of such films as “Minions” and “Spider-Man 2” Cinzia Angelini; comics scholar and Henderson State University professor Randy Duncan; and illustrator and co-creator of “Howard the Duck” Val Mayerik. Others presenters include well-known zombie “expert” of AMC’s “Talking Dead” Matt Mogk; artist and Rice University professor Christopher Sperandio; and independent comic book publisher and artist Winton Williams. Moderators at the event include Robert Boyd and Terry Wagner. A host of others will participate in the event by exhibiting and selling original art.

UH-Clear Lake’s Art Gallery hosts the popular comiCulture. Admission is free, but seating for the presentations is limited. The event will take place in the university’s Bayou Building, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston, 77058. Tickets are available at www.comiculture.org or by calling 281-283-3376.

In the event of a sell-out for the presentations, attendees with a ‘Reserved Seat’ ticket will be asked to be seated at least ten minutes prior to the start of each talk. After that, open seats will be released to individuals with a ‘General Admission’ ticket.
