October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. In recognition and celebration of it, UHCL will have a variety of events.
Autism on Campus: Serving and Supporting Students on the Spectrum
When: Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Where: Bayou, Room 2236
Join us to examine the impact of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) on college students, the differences in on-campus needs between college students with ASD and their neuro-typical peers, the behavioral difficulties that often arise and how colleges and universities are adapting and innovating programs and policies to support students on the spectrum. Come away with real adaptations you can use on your own campus!

When: Thursday, Oct. 22 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Where: Bayou, Room 2234
Disability Services and Human Resources are co-presenting this workshop which addresses the laws that apply to employees with disabilities, the process to request accommodations, and the responsibilities of both the employee and supervisor. This presentation is open to all faculty and staff.
Transitioning From College to Work
When: Thursday, Oct. 29 from 5 – 6:30 p.m.
Where: SSCB, Room 3303
Disability Services and Career Services are co-presenting this workshop which provides students with disabilities with the knowledge necessary to successfully transition from college to the work environment.
