POEM: ‘Love Over Lust (Acrostic)’
Contributed by: Natalia Marfil, biology major
Let us slip into each other’s gaze,
Oblivious to the world that surrounds us.
& in our
Vague and dizzy haze
Enrich our souls with the bittersweet taste
Of our sinful almost-ways.
& with
Veins pulsing with insatiable desire,
we will deny
Every shameful thought, put out every sinful fire.
we will
Refuse to take any part
in the wants of a
Lust-driven, tired heart.
because
Under her ties and under her spell
I can’t
Stray too deep or too far to leave a permanent scar
not now or ever:
This time love will remain over lust & loyalty over pleasure.
