POETRY: ‘Fears’
Contributed by: Justin Murphy, communication major
When I have fears that I may cease to be
Before my life reflects that of the son-
The perfect one who walked across the sea
I fear that I won’t hear those words “well done.”
Before my suitcase has been more than here,
Hath not seen the daylight in another town
Or smelt the aroma, shall i then fear.
And when i feel as though I’m going down
without fall for the one my eyes behold,
Without viewing a younger one of I
And living on to see them become old,
Then I have not acheived-I am just a lie.
On the edge of my mind i sit and think
Of all I want, till in the ground I sink.
Based off of another poem “When I have fears that I may cease to be” by John Keats.
