CAB tackles the heat with a splash

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) is a student fee-funded organization that puts on a variety of events for the UHCL community. This organization is run by students, for students to build a better, more vibrant student life on campus.

On July 28, CAB hosted “CAB Splash,” an event in which UHCL’s Alumni Plaza and SSCB Field were turned into a “splash zone” and were filled with a variety of amenities such as water wars, slip ‘n slides and even a dunk tank!

When I first arrived at the event I was excited to see the number of things that were available to be done! Both “Kona Ice” and the “Happy Endings” food truck were parked and getting ready to serve up some nice treats.

There were two different areas for the event: a dry zone and a wet zone. The wet zone was located on the UHCL Hill and the SSCB Field and it included the dunk tank, slip ‘n slide and water wars. I had a blast running around during the water wars, but I definitely enjoyed the dunk tank the most because I got to watch people dunk David Rachita, the dean of students.

The dry zone was located all around Alumni Plaza and it included a bounce house, trash can pong, cornhole and an entire eight-hole mini golf course! I had actually never played a real game of mini golf before CAB Splash, and I was really glad to try it out for the first time and win!

Bryan Sullivan, marketing committee chair of the CAB, was also glad that he was able to come out to CAB Splash.

“I had a great time and I even won a t-shirt!” Sullivan said. “CAB is a great organization and I’m excited to see the rest of the CAB events in store for the future.”

CAB Splash was a really fun time, and it was only the first event of the year for CAB! I’m definitely going to be on the lookout for more events once the fall semester starts. Be sure to check out the CAB Facebook Page if you are interested in future events, or just want to get to know more about the organization.
