YOUR VOICE: Recognizing veterans of the UHCL community

Veterans Day is Nov. 11 but will be observed Monday, Nov. 12. Veterans Day, formerly called Armistice Day, was marked a hundred years ago on Nov. 11, 1918, the day World War I ended. Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day exists to honor all veterans, not just those who passed away during service.

The Pew Research Center states there are 20.4 million U.S. veterans. There are currently over 1,105 UHCL students using VA benefits to attend school. This number includes veterans, spouses of veterans and children of veterans.

A few weeks back, The Signal asked the UHCL community how important are veteran services at UHCL and if anyone would like to recognize themselves or veterans they know. Below are the responses received.

If you would like to have yourself or someone you know added to our list, email a photo and some words about your/their experience to thesignal@uhcl.edu.
