BRIEF: Road closures to affect parking on campus

Starting on July 15, the section of University drive between Bayou Building Circle drive and Lot B will be closed due to road repairs for an undisclosed period of time. The closure will mostly affect students and staff that utilize Entrance 2 off of the Bay Area Boulevard and Bayou road intersection. In an email sent by Associate Vice President for Facilities Management and Construction, Eric Herrera, to students, faculty and staff July 8 to preemptively help avoid confusion and minimize issues during the repair period.

Faculty and staff who normally park in Lot B were informed of alternate parking at Lot D, located south of the Bayou Building. While no timeline was explicitly announced, it is possible weather may affect the duration of the road closure. Herrera was unable to comment on the impact of the closures and whether there would be future road closures.

July 23 Update

An email was sent out July 23, 2019 to students, faculty and staff by Mr. Herrera regarding the road closures this week, informing them that parking lots A, R and Bayou Building Circle Dr. will be closed for road work. A portion of University Dr. from the Bayou Rd. intersection near Wilson Park will also be closed.

Lot B is now open, however is only accessible through Entrance 2. Visitors are allowed to park in any parking lot available on campus during the road closures. The email contains an updated map of the affected areas in red and the open lots in green.

July 24 Update

An update was sent out July 24, 2019 through email informing students, faculty and staff that Entrance 1 will be closed from Bay Area Blvd. to Bayou Dr. through July 25-29 for road work. Entrance 2 and 3 will be open, as well as parking lots A, B and R (Visitor Lot). Arbor and Delta buildings will be accessible through Graduate Dr. off of Bay Area Blvd. near Entrance 1.
