COMMUNITY UPDATE: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month: Sept. 15-Oct. 15

Every year, the nation recognizes the achievements, culture and contributions of Latinx and Hispanic individuals during Hispanic Heritage Month. This 30-day observance begins on the anniversary of Independence Day for five Central American countries, and UHCL is proud to be part of the nationwide festivities. Here are some highlights:

Mural Map Tour, Sept. 15-21: Take a tour down Houston’s East End to follow mural maps made by LLAS committee members.
Lotería, Sept. 23 and 30: Learn more about the history of the popular Mexican game of chance Lotería, and watch the game played live online.
Cocinar, Chismear y Cenar, Oct. 15: Cook, talk and dine during this virtual cooking demonstration led by Drs. Christina Cedillo and Desi Rios.
