SDEI will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Loteria con SDEI with two events related to the Mexican bingo game played by so many in their childhoods with pinto beans as card markers.

On Wednesday, September 23rd at 2:00pm, we will be revealing in an exclusive sneak peak a student created art installation of an oversized Loteria card that will be permanently displayed in the SDEI Office once completed. This will be hosted by Jacq Garcia, former SDEI Ambassador and current Hunter Hall RA, who researched, curated, and created each unique panel. You don’t want to miss out on this behind the scenes look!

Then on September 30th at 2:00pm, we will play a live virtual game of Loteria and learn a bit more about the game and it history. Loteria has been a long standing part of Hispanic culture, but we will learn the actual history, why some of the cards may not hold up today, and what has happened with spin off decks and more. The winners will receive some great socially distanced prizes, so bring your learning and playing abilities!
