COMMUNITY UPDATE: COVID-19 Protocols

Greetings Hawks,

We hope this email finds you well.  With cooler weather and flu season coming toward us, it’s a good time to relay the Covid-19 protocols again.  Attached are the employee, and student protocols.  Employee protocols are also attached in Spanish.  Los protocolos de empleados también están incluidos en español.

Please be sure to review the Covid Protocols, and the (EHS) Covid Advisory page “Important Things to Know” so you will know what to do (and not do) should it come up.  Return to campus information and supervisor steps are also included.

Protocols and Reporting links are located on the following webpages:

Reporting COVID-19:

Please Note:

  • Stay home, and Report when you first notice any symptom.  Don’t wait until after you get test results to report.
  • Be sure you do not notify Covid exposures, symptoms, or diagnoses by email, or email any personal or medical information for you or others you may supervise, as this is not allowed per HIPAA and the Texas Medical Privacy Act. The online report form is approved and secure for this purpose.  Go home, notify your supervisor, submit a report online, and then wait for a contact tracer to get in touch with you to guide with the next steps.  If you have a question, do not email any identifying information or personal details.  Instead, send a general question, or a good number you or they may be reached at.
  • The “Important Things to Know” listed on the EHS Covid Advisory page includes some frequently asked questions such as why reporting within 24 hours, and quarantining are necessary, and when testing is not necessary.

The Signal posts community updates on a regular basis to keep the campus updated on events, deadlines, policy changes and other important happenings around UHCL. Community updates can be submitted by any individual or organization here.
