MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT: Be a Heart Walk Hero

Dear Faculty, Students, Staff, and Alumni:

The University of Houston-Clear Lake is participating in the 15th annual American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Walk on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 9 a.m. at Kemah Boardwalk. I am pleased to announce UHCL’s coach for the 2021 Heart Walk is Ms. Berenice Webster. We are excited to be part of such a heart-worthy event.

Our goal is to raise $2,500 for the American Heart Association. Donations are accepted in any dollar amount but not mandatory for participation. The purpose of the American Heart Association is to provide awareness of heart disease and strokes and to ultimately save and improve lives locally, and around the globe.

Our team name this year is the University of Houston-Clear Lake Walk-a-Holics for Heart. T-shirts will be provided for all registered walkers and their family members joining us on that day. Please take a few minutes to click the link and register for Team University of Houston-Clear Lake by clicking the “Join this Team” tab. If you can donate, please do so to help us reach our goal.

We will be providing updates on activities leading up to the day of the walk. If you have questions, please send an email to Ms. Jacqueline Nixon at nixonj@uhcl.edu.

We look forward to you joining the University of Houston-Clear Lake Team. Your participation will help the American Heart Association improve patient care and fund lifesaving research. You will also contribute to the ongoing education of adults and children at risk for developing cardiovascular disease.

Sincerely,

Ira K. Blake, Ph.D.
President
