SGA: Spring Food Drive

The Student Government Association Executive Council is pleased to announce that our fourth annual non-perishable food drive, “Fill It Up!” is well underway. SGA got involved in collecting food for the Clear Lake area in October of 2008, after Hurricane Ike left many in this area without food or shelter. Last year, we were able to collect over 4,000 items, which were donated to the St. Vincent De Paul and Interfaith Caring Ministries food pantries. This year, we are receiving even more inquires for donations from local food pantries. So, we need YOUR help to collect.

Collection starts now and will end April 17th. We need all the faculty, staff and student support we can get!

Currently, bins are placed in the following locations for collection:

–          Student Life Office

–          Alumni Office

–          SSCB Entrance

–          Patio Café Entrance

–          Bayou Building Entrance (coming from SSCB)

–          Outside SGA Office

–          Outside the Bookstore

–          Near the Police Department office

If you need a bin for your area of campus please don’t hesitate to ask!

Also, SGA is pleased to announce that the Student Organization who donates the most items will WIN a FREE tableat the Student Life Banquet on April 20th. For tallying purposes, please place your items in a bag with your club name inside of the bag, so we know who you are. Or, you can bring the items to SGA meetings every Tuesday at 11:30 in the SSCB Lecture Hall.

We are happy to hold this event, involving both our on-campus and off-campus communities. We hope that you can participate to the greatest extent possible and help to feed the hungry.

Thanks for your help!
