50 Children Needed for Seussical Musical

The following is a press release from San Jacinto College, Central Campus.

We need 50 boys and girls ages 5 – 15!!!

(No Registration Required)

 

When:                    Feb. 5 and 6 at 6 p.m. – Powell Arena Theatre. Dress to move, no prepared materials necessary.  No prior experience needed.

                 

Casting:                 A Chorus of 50 boys and girls will be cast. 

 

Rehearsals:         Only 9 rehearsals starting Feb. 11.  First five rehearsals are M-F from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

 

The auditions will cast children ages 5 to 15 for the children’s chorus of animals and Whos (boys and girls), and will take place on Feb. 5 and 6 at 6 p.m. on both nights. The auditions will take place in the Powell Arena Theatre, located at 8060 Spencer Hwy., in Pasadena.

 

Local artist and SJC instructor David LeMaster will direct “Seussical.” Rehearsals will begin Feb. 11.  Show dates are Feb. 20, 21, 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. There will be a Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 24, and a special school morning performance on Feb 22.

 

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing Whos.  Horton faces a double challenge –  not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.  Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
