Opening Reception:
14th Houston Area Community College Student Exhibition

Thursday, Nov. 5, 5-7 p.m.
Location: UHCL Art Gallery
Free Parking: Visitor Lot or Lot D

In early November, the UHCL Art Gallery presents the 14th Houston Area Community College Student Exhibition, a juried exhibition open to students currently enrolled in at least one studio art class in a Houston-area community college. For the university’s Art & Design program, it’s important to dedicate a biennial exhibition to showcase the broad spectrum of community college talent across the Houston metro area while at the same time exposing potential transfers to the wonderful art faculty and facilities on campus. For the students involved, this show has always been a terrific opportunity for them to build their portfolio and gain experience in preparing their work for professional display.

This exhibition is juried by Rebecca J. Hopp, program coordinator for FotoFest International’s Literacy Through Photography program. Hopp received her Master of Fine Arts in Fine Art Photography from Texas Tech University. She earned her bachelor’s from The University of Memphis. She will award cash prizes for first-, second-, and third‐place winners at the opening reception on Thursday, Nov. 5, 5-7 p.m. Complimentary refreshments will be served.
