The meeting started with fund requests from student organizations.

  • Applied Behavior Analysis Student Org (ABASO) requested funds from SGA to attend their international convention in Denver, Colorado. This is their first of two presentations for the fund request.

The executive council then gave their reports.

  • The parking committee was not able to have their meeting in March due to spring break. They do plan on having the meeting later this month. A straw vote was taken to determine how students felt about adding parking spots for faculty in lot D. The vote was 45 against the addition and zero for the addition of parking spots.
  • SGA applications are due 4/12 at noon.
  • A vote was taken on changing the current amendment. Currently, if a student is interested in applying for the Executive Council they need to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. They would like to change it to a student must be in good standing. They would also like to no longer require students to be a student organization representative. SGA held an open discussion before voting. The vote was 45 for the amendment change and zero against the change.

The meeting ended with announcements from student organizations and general announcements.

  • University Christian Fellowship will have a Good Friday celebrations April 14 from 1-4 p.m. in the student lounge. The organization also meets every Wednesday in the student lounge from 3-5 p.m.
  • American Marketing Association (AMA) will have an Easter bake sale April 13 in Atrium I from noon to 4 p.m.
  • Pre-Health and Science Association (PHSA) will have their breakfast bash April 12 in Atrium I from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Campus Activities Board (CAB) is hosting Hunt with Hunter April 15 at the alumni plaza and UHCL hill from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • The student conference for research and creative arts will take place April 17 through April 20. It’s not too late for sign-up as a volunteer.
  • The College of Human Sciences and Humanities are looking for volunteers for their Administrative and Office Professionals Summit April 25 or April 26. The event will take place for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. If interested, send a text to 832-274-1590 or email luzyadirap@gmail.com.
  • The UHCL Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition will take place April 13 from 5-7 p.m.
  • Career Services are all done with their events for the semester.
  • The next Film and Speaker series will take place April 22 in the lecture hall at 7 p.m. April 22 is Earth Day and the movie that will be shown is “Racing Extinction.”
  • Recognition season for student organizations has begun and packets are now available. The season ends on Sept. 29 and workshop dates are TBA.
    • The last presidents’ roundtable of the semester is April 14 in SSCB conference room 3.200.07 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    • General admissions tickets are on sale for the student leadership banquet. Tickets are available for purchase until April 21.
