INFOGRAPHIC: A glance at e-cig usage
An e-cigarette or an electronic cigarette is a handheld battery-powered device that provides the simulation of smoking. The usage of an e-cigarette is also known as vaping. Other names for e-cigarettes are “e-cigs,” “vapes,” “e-hookas,” “vape pens” and “electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS).”
The CDC, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), state and local health departments, and other clinical and public health partners are investigating a multistate outbreak of lung injury associated with e-cigarette product (devices, liquids, refill pods, and/or cartridges) use. The CDC recommends refraining from using e-cigarette or vaping products.
