LIST: Places on campus to benefit wellness
At the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL), students pay fees as part of their tuition that allows them access to free services on campus. In addition to academic support, such as the Writing and Math Centers, UHCL offers several services dedicated to students’ mental and physical well-being. Here are some of those services to keep in mind:
Health Services
On-campus, doctors and nurses are available for students to receive medical care such as chiropractic needs, for which UHCL partners with Texas Chiropractic College. Students also can receive vaccines and immunizations, free single-dose medications, nursing assessment and an on-site pharmacy.

Campus Recreation and Wellness Center
At the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, not only do students get to better their body but they also are able to release stress with bodily movement and exercise.

Counseling Services
Counseling Services is open for all enrolled students and is a place to release emotional or psychological challenges in a confidential space. The office offers a wide range of individual, couple and group therapy as well as psychiatric services. There is also a relaxation room for students to destress.

Alfred R. Neumann Library
The university offers more than books. The Neumann Library at UHCL has librarians ready to help and a quiet area for students to get work done, offering a range of services as study rooms, practice presentation rooms, ADA study rooms, and enclosed study carrels. The library is where ideas come alive and students can destress. Throughout the spring and fall semesters, the library hosts Study Paws, a friendly therapy dog that can help the mind be at ease.

Accessibility Support Center
To ensure every student receives an equal opportunity to learn, UHCL provides services such as assistive technology resources in the Neuman Library’s ADA Compliant Workstation that includes screen reader software, voice recognition software and screen magnification software. Additionally, the Accessibility Support Center determines accommodations for students, along with the Academic Accommodations Evaluation Committee. These can include extended test-taking time, sign language interpreters, permission to record lectures and assistance with note-taking. To apply for accommodations, students will need to submit an online application.

The Captain Wendell M. Wilson Office of Veteran Services is available to help veteran students transition into civilian life. From VA benefits to career counseling, Veteran Services is staffed with fellow veterans to assist current and new students.
