International Education Week (IEW) is around the corner!

IEW is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to celebrate internationalization and cultural exchange worldwide in the month of November. The University of Houston-Clear Lake celebrates students, scholars, and staffs from around the world, and many other global initiatives across UHCL, helping to make UHCL a globally diverse and culturally rich campus.

This year, UHCL is celebrating IEW from November 16-20. Here are fun events we have planned:

What is the F-1?
Monday, November 16, 2020
9 – 10 a.m. (virtual)

The Office of International Admissions and Programs will explain the regulations for F-1 internationals at UHCL. Faculty and staff who work closely with F-1 international students will learn how to advocate for them and better understand their immigration experiences. We will also take questions.

Diplomacy Institute Diplomatic Lecture Series 2020-21: Mr. Charles Foster

The University of Houston-Clear Lake’s (UHCL) Diplomacy Institute proudly presents Mr. Charles C. Foster, J.D., Vice Dean of the Houston Consular Corps, the Honorary Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand and Chairman of one of the largest global immigration law firms, Foster LLP. Mr. Foster will deliver a lecture, “Fostering Diplomatic Relations Through the Houston Consular Corps.” This talk is hosted by Assistant Vice President of Global Learning and Strategy Dr. Gigi Do. F-1 International Alumni who are eligible for the STEM OPT extension should attend this session to learn about the application process and the rules while on STEM OPT.

F-1 International Students, attend this information session to learn how to apply for OPT, as well as the rules for OPT. To apply for OPT, you must attend one session within the last two semesters of graduation.
