COMMUNITY UPDATE: Dr. Glenn M. Sanford to join UHCL as HSH Dean

It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Glenn M. Sanford will join the University of Houston-Clear Lake on June 1, 2021 as our new Dean of the College of Human Sciences and Humanities. Dr. Sanford comes to us from Sam Houston State University, where he is currently associate dean for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and a professor of philosophy.

Dr. Sanford has over 20 years of academic administrative experience, serving as director of the Honors Program, Philosophy Program coordinator, associate dean and interim dean.

In addition, Dr. Sanford has remained connected to students and the faculty experience as he has continued to teach throughout his time in administration. He has a doctorate in philosophy from Duke University and a J.D. from the University of Houston.

I look forward to working with Dr. Sanford to support the success of the faculty, staff, and students in the College of Human Sciences and Humanities. This is an exciting time as the college works to implement the Strategic Plan: Impact 2025 and Beyond.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Interim Dean Samuel Gladden and Interim Associate Dean Christal Seahorn, who have led the college with distinction this past academic year.

Additionally, I wish to thank co-chair Dr. Heather Kanenberg, co-chair Dean Joan Pedro and the members of the HSH search committee for their service during this search process.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Sanford to UHCL.

Sincerely,

Steven J. Berberich, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
