MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT: Passing of Hugo Aguilar

Dear UHCL Community:

With much sadness, I share the news of the passing of Mr. Hugo Aguilar. Hugo was a member of our UH-Clear Lake family for more than three years and had become a familiar and friendly face to all. Hugo joined UH-Clear Lake in 2018 as a Grounds Supervisor and was promoted to Grounds Manager in early 2021.

Hugo and his team of Grounds Keepers at both the Clear Lake and Pearland Campus took the beauty of our campus personally and worked many extra hours to ensure UH-Clear Lake made the most of our pristine surroundings. We are all beneficiaries of the dedication that he and his team gave to our campus.

I offer my condolences to Hugo’s family and all who knew and loved him. As I often remind you in our time of sadness, the Office of Counseling Services can provide emotional support to students. Be sure to contact them at 281-283-2580 if you need assistance.
