Hmong Artisans, Fair Trade, and Preserving Cultural Arts

As a reminder, the Office of Global Learning and Strategy is kicking off this year’s International Education Week 2021! On Monday, November 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. our presentation entitled, Hmong Artisans, Fair Trade, and Preserving Cultural Arts will be hosted in Bayou Building 2235.

This presentation will center on a fellow UHCL graduate student’s entrepreneurial initiative to promote fair trade and develop a fair and ethical eCommerce store for Hmong artisans, a prominent ethnic group in Southeast Asia;  it will be housed under our office.

Attendees will have the opportunity to win a Hmong handcrafted door prize!

 

 

Radical Black Feminisms: Illuminating Pathways, Empowered Engagement

Nov. 15, 5 – 7 p.m. –  Garden Room

In conjunction with the College of Human Sciences and Humanities’ Women and Gender Studies Program’s yearlong “suff/e/rage” programming, the Office of Global of Learning and Strategy is proud to be sponsoring iconic gender and racial justice activist, Demita Frazier at this year’s International Education Week 2021.

She will be virtually joining UHCL on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 5 p.m. for a talk entitled, Radical Black Feminisms: Illuminating Pathways, Empowered Engagement hosted by the Women and Gender Studies Program. Following Frazier’s talk, there will be a roundtable discussing current Women and Gender Studies Program faculty research.
