STAFF PICKS: Favorite Halloween media

The Signal Staff picks out some of their favorite Halloween favorites just in time for this year’s celebrations.

My Halloween movie pick is Disney’s Don’t Look Under the Bed (1999). I first saw this movie when I was very young and the idea that the boogeyman could leave from under the bed and cause havoc was terrifying to me. Now that I’m older and know the boogeyman isn’t real (probably), I’m more terrified about the loss of innocence placed upon the younger brother.

While the 2018 Halloween was a good and fresh new start to the series, Halloween Kills took it to the next level. With creative kills, every turn of the way, and a good example of a sequel meant to act as only the second act, Halloween Kills is a film I look forward to rewatching before seeing Halloween Ends.

An absolute delight to the senses. the score, the practical effects, and the BLACK and WHITE is such a vibe it grabs you in its claws at the begining amd mever lets go. A true tribute to classic horror films of the 30’s-50’s a MUST watch.

And the trees crept in is a pretty good read. it’s not that challenging in terms of vernacular, but it uses its classic horror tropes quite successfully without being glaringly overbearing. the characters are really what brings it together and how they react to their surroundings, I found myself quite spooked around wooded areas for a short while.

Scary Godmother: Halloween Spooktakular on Cartoon Network is pretty cash money ! Good Halloween family movie that’s entertaining and funny. I remember I would always look forward to watching it when October rolled around whenever I was a kid.

My favorite Halloween movie is Coroline. Even though it is not specifically categorized as a “Halloween movie” it still gives me that spooky vibe. It’s a great movie for all ages, and has such beautiful animation

I grew up when the Disney Channel was more watched and when they played all the Halloween classics throught October. I always looked foward to Halloweentown and Harry Potter every year.

My favorite Halloween movie is also one of my favorite Eddie Murphy films.  Its a film that I would always watch during Halloween that was never too scary as a child but still fit that mood.
