Savannah College of Art and Design–Atlanta’s The Connector received the Gold Crown Award and Texas Tech’s The Hub received the Silver Crown Award.

Earlier this year, The Signal received four Gold Circle Awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Students who won included: The Signal Managing Editor Brandon Peña, editorial writing, “Safeguarding freedom of expression is essential;” Amanda Beard, comic cartoons, “Cyclops and Daredevil go to the eye doctor;” Anna Wright, off-campus personal opinion issue, “Wrinkles, gray hair and mortar board;” Leah Won-Morales and Paul Tristan, video feature package, “Hawks remark on ‘Fifty Shades of Grey.’”

Members of The Signal editorial staff will attend the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association’s annual convention in April to participate in on-site competitions, workshops and attend the awards ceremony for work published in the last year.
