BRIEF: Campus Recreation creates first ‘live well’ cohort

In conjunction with faculty and the Office of Orientation and New Student Programs, Campus Recreation and Wellness (CRW) established the first “live well” cohort.

Brian Mills, director of Campus Recreation and Wellness said the purpose of the cohort is to meet and create connections between people with similar goals and build their social, mental and physical wellness.

CRW created the cohort after targeting 16 transfer students from orientation sessions in January with a mindset survey. The cohort is designed to coincide with events and services offered by the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.

This cohort will meet throughout the semester to practice incorporating health and wellness into their routine and discuss their progress. CRW Graduate Assistants will serve as wellness mentors to the cohort.

At the end of the semester, participants will retake the mindset survey to see how their results changed. CRW’s hope is that by Fall they could develop additional “live well” cohorts across various areas of interest (e.g. academic majors) or identities (e.g. first-generation students).
