Counseling Services reveal identity as primary issue among students

Counseling Services is helping students deal with pandemic-related mental health issues.

Shavonne Fuller, co-chair and outreach coordinator of Counseling Services, said one of the primary issues students are experiencing is navigating their identity.

“We have really seen that students are trying to navigate their identity amidst all that has happened since the start of the pandemic,” Fuller said. “The pandemic changed many students’ decisions when it came to their career choice and so as things have begun to return to normal, many students are wondering who they are and what defines them. Many are wondering about the decisions they made during lockdowns and if they were the right ones.”

Counseling Services will host in-person services this fall, but students may still use Telehealth to access remote appointments.

Fuller said Counseling Services encourages students to let them know what kind of services they would like to see implemented as the fall semester begins. To contact Counseling Services, visit their contact page.
